1.9 Driveshafts To 1.6 Box.

Hi, I was wondering what driveshafts I will have to use as I have just put a 1.9GTI engine and 1.6GTI gearbox into my 1.9 Gentry?

 

I did hear off somebody that if I want to use 1.9 driveshafts I must replace the hubs with 1.9 ones, is that right?

yes that's right, though it depends which hubs the gentry used, they may already be 1.9 hubs.

The 1.9 and 1.6 gearbox and shafts are interchangeable in any combination you like.

 

However you need to run the right front hubs for whichever shafts you have. 1900 stuff has bigger wheel bearings and is stronger, but for a road car then the 1600 is adequate really.

All Gentry's have 1.6 hubs as standard. 1.9 driveshafts dont fit.
