Differences In Older & Newer Style Torsion Bars/beams

Recommended Posts

andychalmers

What are the differences in older & newer style 205 torsion bars & beams?

Also what year did they change over?

What are the visual differences between them?

Lastly are any of the parts between the older & newer beams interchangable?

Cheers in advance

Last time I saw a early beam must have been a good 10 yr's ago now, But the splines in the beam and Trailing Arm's vary but I;m sure everything else can be changed over.

There is a Chassis number they chnaged over but it was around 1986

Sorry older style TB's are not suitable for later trailing arms and visa versa, the number of splines is different.

found this info on Discostu's Parts database;

28-30 DTS

EXCEPT (E) UP TO S 5904143

- (E) UP TO 09/1985

30-32 DTS

EXCEPT (E) SINCE S 5904144

- (E) SINCE 09/1985

so it'd be a VERY early beam to be the smaller ends.
