Wishbone/ Hub Carrier

just been checking rh wishbone, should there be any play in ball joint/ hub carrier with pinch bolt inserted but not tightened up ? I could move ball joint shank up and down (no play in ball/socket) is it normal to have some play before pinch bolt is tightened or is pinchbolt or groove in ball joint shank elongated ? (p.s.hole in hub carrier wasn't noticably ovalled) ........

there will be some movement without the bolt tightened up, pinch it up to 23lbft and no more with a new bolt and see how it is.
