Planet Gear Set

Recommended Posts

mattyg

Im currently rebuilding a MA box which was broken on my XS when i brought it.

After taking the box apart, found the planet gears where chewed to bits.

So im after some new planet gears, ive seen sets on the net for about £65.

Rather then spend that much money on a box that i will be selling anyway, does any body know if- say the 106 non gti models would use the same planet gear set as my XS

If so a trip to the local scrapyard will be much more cost effective

they're about £60 or £70 from Peugeot, most 106's bar the rallye and gti use the same planet gears, there's a reference to 68mm on the parts files, and 77mm on the larger/more powerful TU engines, what exactly is 68mm I'm not sure as I have yet to strip and MA box.

Drop Miles a PM, he may be able to supply some parts.

wel to be honest thats what go wrong with these boxes,

which then usualy blows thru the bell housing!

so u might buy a box too find them in poor condidtion, there is curently a diff on ebay (wrong ratio) but u could ask if the gears are good condtion its on for £50, bit step but beter than buying a box and finding its the planet gears are nackerd, i rebuilt my box and the planet gears where f**ked that i took out and there was no indication when driving

Welshpug: As far as I can tell, 68m or 77mm is the diameter of the diff "cup" (Not sure on the exact name!!) which holds the planet gears.

Thanks for the information welshpug & joe1joe

Fortunattly for me the planet gears did not make a hole through the casing, just the teeth were chewed up.

Will be hunting round the scrap yards for a 106 box then.

Will upload some pics of the box and the gears for all to see over the weekend
