eck_johnston 2 Posted March 18, 2009 Hi, I'm pretty new on here, but have had my 1.6 gti for a wee while. A quick question - the ball joints on the wishbones can't be replaced can they? This being the case, can anyone suggest where the best place to get new wishbones is? Cheers, Eck
Adnic69 0 Posted March 18, 2009 Hi and welcome. They can't be replaced no. GSF is your best bet.
AndyJ 1 Posted March 18, 2009 Got mine from eurocarparts. I've heard the bushes can be a bit shoddy on these, but i cant see any evidence after hammering them for a year.
eck_johnston 2 Posted March 18, 2009 (edited) Cheers, I'll check them both out - usefully there's a eurocarparts just down the road from me. Eck Edited March 18, 2009 by eck_johnston
M@tt 77 Posted March 18, 2009 you want motaquip stockist to get OE wishbones for you otherwise you'll find the bushes on other pattern manufacturers will fail prematurely so you can either get pattern ones and get Orinial bushes from Peugeot and replace them before fitting. You should be a ble to get a pair of Motoquip wishbones for £80 for a pair

Rupertfinch 6 Posted March 18, 2009 Well at £80 they were chancing their arm - £55 is very reasonable though! You must have given them a cheeky wink.
SteveW 6 Posted March 19, 2009 my local motaquip factors wants £60 each arm
eck_johnston 2 Posted March 20, 2009 (edited) Got a pair from allan kaye, plus some other bits and bobs. A good bit cheaper than elsewhere too, so cheers for the advice. Hopefully get rid of a few of the many rattles. Eck Edited March 20, 2009 by eck_johnston

shalmaneser 26 Posted March 22, 2009 can you buy 309 arms from Motaquip?
GLPoomobile 958 Posted March 22, 2009 can you buy 309 arms from Motaquip? No. They stopped making them a while ago.
shalmaneser 26 Posted March 22, 2009 No. They stopped making them a while ago. Gayholes. Flicking through French Performance Car or whatever it's called today seemed to suggest that GSF were selling 309 bones still - is this the case? Might have to get involved. Might have to get involved. Their website says yes, although at £64.50+ they come in at a premium compared to 205 ones.

stutto 0 Posted April 3, 2009 (edited) I'd like to add that I fitted GSF wishbones to my car for the MOT last year, eleven months later the bushes seem OK but I found out today that I need to replace the LH one because the balljoint is very free. My car is my daily drive, am I being unreasonable to expect more than eleven months out of a wishbone? Edited April 3, 2009 by stutto
