Rear Arb Upgrade

Recommended Posts

aCe

Looking to upgrade my rear anti roll bar on my 1.6 rear beam. I have had a look through the search engine but haven't come across anything definitive.

What is the standard size fitted and what is the cheapest most common upgarde?

Cheers in advance

19mm is std, common upgrades are generally ones that are from other cars and can be cut down and re-splined to fit, cheaper that way. 306/ZX/Xsara 22mm, 24mm etcis common. Otherwise the world's your oyster!!

Standard is 19mm, I fitted a 24mm GTi6 one to my 205 with GTi 18.9mm torsion bars and it feels really nice, turns in beautifully and doesn't want to just plough straight on any more!

Cost me nowt to cut it down and weld it into the original endplate :) I turned it down on the lathe to be a perfect press fit in the small end plate to minimise any movement, turned a nice well into the ARB and then welded it up.

There are those who say 'ARGHH HATEZ WELDIN SPRING STEEL MURDER' but it takes A LOT to heat inch bar to anywhere near the temperature at which the properties change. Straight after welding it i could pick it up within 2 inches of the weld.
