1.6 Handbrake Autoadjuster

Are there two types of autoadjusters on the handbrake shoes of 1.6s? Im sure last time i took one apart, it had sliding wedge style adjusters (or maybe im thinking of the 106 ) but i took one apart yesterday and it had a wierd twiddler bit with a kinda ratchet mech to hold it out

 

Problem is, one side is sticking on and I dont have a clue where to start at fixing it? Can I just retrofit the oldstyle shoes?

The GTi's only use 1 type from what I;ve seen (Just the odd one) and as normal don;t really work,

 

Sticking is normally the arm on the shoe that rusts up which can be lubed up and worked free
