What The Hell Gearbox Is This?!

Recommended Posts

dimmapalmer

Apparently its a 1.6

Is it boll*cks :D

theres no filler hole in the side so i have no idea how much oil to put in, just stuck with 2 litres.

pretty much everthing else is the same.

at 70mph its at 3k revs, and the gears all seem realy long.

Other than that its identical to my 1.9 (which possibly was a 1.6 already <_< )

I'm thinking diesel box.

Any ideas?

cheers

Another thing, will it be easy to put the diff into my other box? It has new bearings on and everything (fitted by gearbox rebuilder company)

If you got it from a breakers then chances are they've just given you any old BE gearbox, as they don't care about things like ratios as long as it fits.

the diff should be easy to put back into my old box then? will the bearings need changing again?

changing the diff wont gain you anything (unless its an LSD)

Early BE box's did not have the hole in the end casing but had plug's in other places depending on the year as they all varied allot, But sounds like a Derv box as these where made from 1984 ish
