1.6 Gti Crankshaft Sensor

Hi all

 

Had to call out RAC today for my mate in his 1.6GTi. The RAC guy said his crankshft sensor was reading to high something like 365 2 _n_ or something like that.

 

Anyway weve been told it needs replacing so a few questions

 

Where would it be located? how much do they sell, where to buy and how easy is the job?

 

Did do a search but would of taken forever for the right info

hmm. it is a phase1 :S

 

i dont have a clue when it come to the 8v engine to be honest

What are the symptoms? are you getting a spark and fuel?

yep getting spark and fuel. its cranking just wont fire

 

had trobles firing it when we picked it up and its progressivly got worse. im thinking it could be ignition amp issue maybe?

Thats a classic, No 1.6 has ever had a crank sensor,

Worth seeing if you can track down the RAC man to confirm what he tested

we got the sheet he gave us but thats about all. i'll have a look and report back
