Fitting Exhaust Wrap, How?

Recommended Posts

trialster

hey guys, just bought some exhaust wrap to cover my exhaust where it is close to the bulkhead and near a couple of heater hoses.

my question is whats the best way to secure it onto the exhaust? i could only think of jubilee clips tbh!

Hi,

You are supposed to use stainless steel snap-straps, get them from Demon Thieves or similar, however they are'nt cheap but what is these days.

Your better off using lock wire as you can get it to stay tight the metal cable ties release a bit when you do them up so dont stay that tight.

This is a tu manifold that i did:

Lock wire works well

ive never had any success with the proper stainless ties

have seen people use jubilee clips it does the job

soak the wrap 1st, overlap well and pull tight

once dry spray with ht silcone to seal from oil ingress

I wrapped my standard XU 1.9 8v manifold and plan on sealing it with silicone sealant but I did not wet it before I wrapped? I did stretch hard though, will this really matter?

Good job on that mani ^^ !

I did my Mi one, but have since taken it off, and not bothering again. Mi ones are fiddly

I used lockwire, held it in place fine for the year it was on.

Its much easier to do when the wrap is wet I found too, I wouldnt bother using the s/s ties. Use the wire like above or Jubliee clips

I saw in some racing cars that they used a ceramic paint instead exhaust wrap, but I can't find this paint...
