jamesb 0 Posted January 26, 2009 Ive just been out for a drive in the pug & when the engine gets warm (about 10 to 15mins into my journey) i noticed it started to tap quite loudly. It dosent seem any better or worse throughout the rev range but obviously taps slower when the revs reduce. Im using 10/40 oil, should this be ok or should i be using something else? The engine has 90k ish miles on it & has been serviced regularly throughout its life. If its the tappets can they be adjusted or will i need to replace them? Cheers guys. DamirGTI 327 Posted January 26, 2009 Id look for cracks on the exhaust manifold first , so either cracked ex. manifold or blowing from manifold to downpipe joint (mesh ring) or blowing from the manifold to head gaskets .. if all of those areas are sound , then check/measure the valve clearances ..
