Could Really Do With Some Help

Recommended Posts

Ok im having running problems at the moment which I had put down to ignition amp. The car orginally had a BOSCH amp, with this no missfire but car takes a while to start and idles a bit poor untill warm. This amp is all 'scorched' on the back. It has been tried with new paste.

So I bought a seccy hand Ducellier amp, car was much better untill 4000rpm when it missfires and pops like a rally car.

So I bought a brand new BOSCH amp, just fitted it, car seems much more eager to pull, untill 4000rpm where it missfires :)

New coil 1 year ago

plugs a a few months old (BCP7ES) (gapped to 0.9)

Leads brand new

dizzy cap and rotor arm few months old.

I should also add the CO2 is set to 1.5 at idle by myself with a propper analizer.

Im thinking the new amp has solved one problem (car seeming a little lazy, poor starting) but brought to light a new one (missfire at 4k+ rpm)

Help!

Your CO is fine at idle, but what is it doing higher up?

Couldnt tell you at the moment (no print out on analizer)

Forgive me, dedicated engine stuff is not my strong point! but as there was no missfire with the old amp (just poor starting, sluggish) wouldnt this rule out under/over fueling at 4k with the new amp? I was thinking this could be some sort of ignition timing problem? like I said though me + engine stuff.......

just went out in the pouring rain and advanced the timing by moving the dizzy round about 3mm. The missfire has moved upto just before 5k now, still there and noticeable but not as bad as before.

What should I have just learned from this? has it made the solution to my problem any clearer?

Cheers for help guys

healthy, although they have done all their mileage apart from 1 or 2 with the old amp (no missfire)

This saturday im gonna time the ignition propley, change plugs (ngk's £3.40 down from £9.99 with halfords trade card!), change dizzy cap, then do the co at idle and see what its doing through the range.

Also a very kind well known peugeot tuning specialist has offered his experiance over the phone! The kindness of some people in the 205 comunity is truely amazing :P
