Xu10 2.0t Alternator Earth,

Recommended Posts

Alright people,

Just in the middle of relooming my engine, as always some monkey has cut wires off the main loom! (two thick yellow ones, under the inlet manifold area)

Ok So, ive got the starter and alt. ve+ on the main battery ring main, and the starter solinoid ve+ to the 205 loom out the xu10 2.0T big round multiplug.

However what I think is the alt ve- (thin black wire) comes out the xu10 2.0T multiplug too! does this need to be earthed to the chassis?!

Ive tried tracing the two thick chopped yellow wires with no joy.

Any help please...

alternators don't have earth's as such?! (bolted to the block like the starter)

probably the exciter wire, the one that makes the light on the dash go off and makes the alternator start charging.

I had thought it was the exciter wire, however this wire has a ring terminal on it, were as the excitor wire has a pin plug?

and thats coming straight off the 205 existing loom.

Oh well I have attached it to the ve- side now... however it doesnt seem to goto to the clump of earths on the face of the engine block!

I've seen a ring terminal on a 405 306 and ZX.

So the Alt. is earthed through it's case then?
