8v Bosch Dizzy 1.9 - Wiring Query

Recommended Posts

cherry_red

Basically I want to know what the purpose of this wire is and if i needed it? Im using a bosch 8v 1.9 distributor.

Its a 3 pin yellow socket, which attaches to the loom and has 3 wires red, black and copper wire which connects to a 2 pin plug which is screwed on to the dizzy.

Sorry photo not very clear. As you can see the wire is broken.

Yes you do need it, it sends info to the ECU for fuelling!

If your running standard ECU/injectors etc your car won't run without that connected.

It transfers the signal from the dizzy to the ECU to tell the ECU the engine is turning over ;)

Like a crank sensor on modern cars :)

About £38 from Pug if you need new one

Ok, then is it possible to get a new one? Im unsure of the name for it, as it just says wiring plug in the haynes manual.

I could just crimp it together, but ideally I would like a new one.

Oh dear....£38

Well I'm running carbs so the fuel injection side of things isn't being used. Will I need it for ignition timing?

No, you can live without it if using carbs.
