Distributor Question

hi all

 

the other day i took my distributor off and found a bake-a-like/plastic disc there (see photo).

so my question is what is it?? and do i need it??

 

if i do need it,where do i get one from??

Hey, If it's there I reckon you need it! I've got a spare dizzy, I'll have a look tomorrow and see what condition it's in.

Stee,

I think it's there to insulate the metal distributor body from any stray spark generated inside the distributor cap and arm. Check ServiceBox. I would expect they are still available from Peugeot. You'll need to check for the distributor manufacturer (Bosch?) and get the right code number off it to make sure you get the right part, but the dizzy for cat engines is different to all others as it has no pick-up on it.
