Hanging Wire

Recommended Posts

Matteo

Hello, one week ago I bought my 205 GTI 1.9 year 1988. Today, while I was fitting the K&N kit, I found an hanging wire. It goes near the flywhell housing, but I don' t know where it should be connected. Is it a crankshaft position sensor? Is this the reason the engine runs not good at very low rews with little load?

Hope you can help me.

Ok, it is a little good news ;-)

But what that wire is there for? Where should be connected?

A great relief, thank you! :)

So, why the engine runs unevenly at low rews with little throttle, while at runs great at full load and rews? AFM defect? Idle is constant at 1100 rmp

I had this problem on the 205 out the back, see if you can borrow another AFM and connect that up, should hopefully sort the problem!

I think I just found the problem! The AFM fitted in my 205 1.9 is Bosch 0 280 202 056, but I think the right one is 0 280 202 109.

Now I look for a correct AFM for my car ;-)

Yes, checked ;-) I have 0280000359 ECU and yellow injectors. I also have the right engine D6B  . I only miss the correct AFM :(

Now I know 1.9 engine with 1.6 AFM runs bad when you drive slow.

Thanks Roman, but today I bought a tested AFM from France. It should be modified with "seven staples more than original for more power". I don' t know exactly what it means, but it sounds good ;-)

On the 1.9 Mi16 all you need is a bit of wire connected to the diagnostics socket and you count the number of flashes from the "k" light, wouldn't be surprised if it's the same for 8 valves engines. Anyone?

Thats tester you've found on ebay won't work on the Jetronic system as fitted to the 1.6 or 1.9 GTi & it doesn't have a diagnostioc socket like the Mi16.

The lead you've found is for plugging into the diagnotics machine at a Peugeot dealership (or garage with the correct machine) to accurately read the engine rpm.

That same sensor is used for the rev counter on the 205 STDT/ Dturbo.

Graham.
