Fecking arse. Spent a few hours masking off and tried to paint the wing and lower rear quarters today. Damn paint on the wing reacted so will need to come off again- damn it! Hoped to have it mostly done this w/e. On a good note I did roll it out the garage on it's own wheels yesterday and refitted the seats and door trims. week's task, to re-paint the wing!

Phil, It will be all worth it in the end. I will have to pop over soon to have a look at the new mudflaps :)

Sorry Steve just seen this.

Not really. 309 arms i think the bushes are u/s. Need to sort the R/J'd ones out and get them fitted really. 309 arms were only an interim measure.

Gave it a lot of stick through the lanes and it was fine. Got home and there was coolant steaming out of the bonnet. turned out to be the thermostat housing take off. My home made rubber gasket blew out. Fixed and sorted now. Night and day difference to the 8v engine. Similar power top end but so much more tractable.

Here a pic with my hammerite sprayed gold wheels!

ps will update project thread when time permits.

Had to drop gumpguard 35mm at the front to clear the Gti6 sump and spacer plate

thanks, I will try and do some updating this w/e

I had to drop the sump 35mm at the front. It's got an ally bar in there at the moment as I'm only trying it for size but needs a thicker spacer. it's on Tarmac front suspension at the moment. it will sit higher on the gravel stuff when I find the £280 for new inserts it needs

So much better than the 8v I had before. better on fuel, more powerful (just) and so much more tractable
