The Definitive Weights Thread

Shame, would have been good to put the Mi16 / GTi6 weight argument to bed with measurements from the same source.

the S16 head has much more material than the later heads, individual cam ladders and a plastic coilpack cover count for a fair bit, though the cams do weigh more, I'll try and weigh mine later if I remember.

Even with that loom included, the v6 is only 180kg.

is that minus flywheels and manifolds?

I'm sure I have pasted this in before, but it clarifies some of the figures Anthony posted a few posts up.

ML5 Gearbox - 50.5kg with selector fork

GTi6 Gearbox - 40.2kg with selector fork

GTi6 Inlet Manifold Complete - 9kg

GTi6 Exhaust Manifold - 5.7kg

V6 Inlet Manifold Complete - 6kg

GTi6 engine with plugs, cambelt aux tensioners, PAS + alternator, flywheel and clutch (no wiring, most water hoses) - 145kg

V6 - too heavy for the scales (over 150).

V6 Standard Flywheel - 8.1kg (mine is expected to be about 7kg - safety first!)

V6 Standard Clutch - 7.2kg

Not easy to weigh the driveshafts but as standard I would say there is about 3kgs more on the V6 ones. Most of that is the outer cv joints. Mine are likely to be lighter as they will be a hybrid.

that was a gti6 engine minus both manifolds :)

Popped my blue 'road' 205 on the corner weights the other day just out of interest.

829kg

Quarter of a tank, full interior & stereo etc. Pretty surprised by that, didn't think it'd be quite so light! :)

Anyone know the weights of the Xsara VTS (RFS) gearbox and of the 306 S16 (the 2.0 MI16 one) gearbox? I could not find it in this topic, but I might have overlooked it.

I doubt there will be much difference between the two but I have both so I'll get the most accurate weight an old set of bathroom scales can in the next few days.

Usually around 32-38kgs depending on scales/oil etc.

Got it thanks to a Dutch Peugeot GTi specalist (Ron, thanks).

1900 BE3 gearbox 33Kg
S16 gearbox 36.5Kg
VTS gearbox 37Kg

I have a S16 gearbox. With the diff and 5th of a Mi16 gearbox. Gear wise pretty much the same as a VTS. And I'm guessing my S16/MI16 combination is even a bit lighter as a standard S16 gearbox.

For some reason I expected the VTS gearbox too be much lighter. So from a weight loss point of view I'm better off to keep what I have now. I'm looking for loosing some kgs at the front, that's why I was interested. The 1900 BE3 gearbox can be a option, but I'm kinda liking my current setup for the circuits I drive. Better start looking for loosing kgs elsewhere.

I weighted XU9J4Z engine a year ago. The weight is without exhaust manifold and oil. The calibration was bit out so the actual weight was 143 kg.

I also weighted my S16 engine the same way. It was 147 kg.

My S16 engine has mi16 manifold, Citroen XM upper engine support, cut alternator support, mi 88 mm stroke crank and aftermarket ecu so the weight is different from std. S16.
