  • Short Description This is Peggy, she’s technically my missus’ car but I use her when I need to get around and I do the work on her when she needs it. Bought in April 2013 for just £150, with knackered brakes and a few other issues, she’s done 15k since then and is on 175k. The 950cc TU engine has been leaking from the crank seal since we got it, and has accidentally been run with no oil and forced to burn diesel after a 5am fill up mishap, but she still runs pretty damn well (albeit with a rumbly bottom end). Future plans involve a refurbished rear beam, a front suspension overhaul and an upgrade to a 1.1 and 5 speed box, possibly fuel injection. That’s if money and time allow anyway.
  • Car Type / Usage Road car
  • Engine & Gearbox Standard. Tired. Leaky. Noisy. Slow. Crunchy.
  • Suspension & Steering Standard. Saggy. Clunky. Lop sided.
  • Brakes Standard. Actually not bad at all
  • Wheels & Tyres Standard. Tyres are 155/70 Goodyear Duragrip. Paid £17 to get correct centre cap sent from Iran. Where else?
  • Bodywork & Exterior Standard. Dented. Faded. Scratched. Rusty. Perfect.
  • Interior & ICE Standard. Ripped. Dirty. 90's Blaupunkt tape deck converted to take mini jack. Doesn't work. Neither does the aerial
  • Comments & Plans Chuck another motor in it (just another 1.0 or 1.1), fit new rear beam, strip and refresh suspension all round, address the few minor rust spots and keep it going as long as possible.
