[misc_work] Something Non Pug!

After chatting to Alastair yesterday when he came to pick up a rear beam and saw my latest little toy in the garage, he recommended I start a forum thread about it. So hopefull some of you will find it intresting!!

I used to have a hybrid Land Rover that I built, but was getting abit bored of it and fancied a change! So managed to sell that on piston heads, to raise some funds for somthing else. Then it was just a matter of time of waiting for the right car to come along! I'd always liked integrales, somthing about the retro boxyness and history of them ticked all the boxes for me!

I was quite specific in what I wanted though, didnt want a red one, and didnt think i could afford an evo model, so wanted a 16v on aftermarket wheels and with the rear spoiler to! Then this one poped up on ebay and i was lucky enough to win it!

The plan for it is to be running about 1.4bar of boost with a t3 turbo with 360 deg thrust bearing, SS tubular manifold into the SS powerflow system it already has, put an induction kit on it and devide it off from the engine bay with a nice cold air feed! I have a new rad to go in! It needs abit of welding underneath but not a whole lot, then wire brush and chassis black the whole underneath. and finally i have a polybush kit on route and mabe put some omp grooved discs and pads on it.

All this, just as the alternator needed reconing on it! might aswell thou

Hope you guys like anyways!

Cheers

Dave

A very nice find B)

These Integrales are in the same league of cool as the Quattro turbo, when you have done your weld repairs give it all a good clean back and double dose of Waxoyl as they are prone to rot away.

It needs abit of welding underneath but not a whole lot

Famous last words?

They are brilliant cars, considering a lot of other things from the time were turbocharged and 4WD, the Integrale seems to be just feel more special than the others.

Neal @ DES Developments has one, and we spent hours talking about the number of cool features (unable to see speedo when driving, stopwatch fitted as standard, the fact that is has warning lights for everything, the ridiculous amount of turbo lag etc etc)

Lucky man. Very jealous!

I tried to buy one I spotted looking neglected outside a garage in Devon. Red, Evo II, in brilliant nick on an F (IIRC), with 17" white Compomotives on. Simply lushous. He wouldn't sell it even though the bonnet was cracked open and I could see plugs out and bits off it. Hope it doesn't waste away. Buying guide said 6grand value even for this age!!

Good luck with getting her ready for blattage. Hope you'll tell us how she goes.

A friend of mine has a load of Lancias at his house. His Dads got 2 Intergralies, a Delta 1600 Turbo and a Beta HPE and my mates got a Delta 1300 for a road car and a Beta HPE coupe for a track car. Anyway i would keep an eye on the rust, it's not uncommon for Delta's to have the roof replaced because it's rotted away

Haha yea there will no doubt me more rust I uncover, but ive had all the carpet up and under the boot and seats etc it seems good from the top, abit on each sill is the main area, but not enought to warrent a sill replacement! I think the main problem for roofs rusting out are for integrales with sun roofs! so fingers crossed on mine as it doesnt have one!

It amazes me some of the bits it has, as you say the lap timer! abs!! all the mod cons! And I like how you dont see many about at all! Makes it that bit more special!

Thanks for the good luck's cant wait to give it a proper blast, As have just taken it round the block before and was really impressed with everything even then!

Hopefully i should get it all sorted by the end of jan, depending on parts arrival, just waiting for my ss manifold, chassis black paint and polly bushes to show up atm.

But i'll keep you updated with pics and try and get a vid or two when it is up and running, mabe even get down to a curry / hatfield meet in it if you guys wouldnt mind a non pug showing up! :P

Cheers

Dave

I went in one of these when I was about 15. It was a yellow Evo2 and it was Immaculate (it wasn't very old then tough). It had been messed with a bit aswell. The guy driving it got on to an open stretch and booted it. I'm sat there thinking f*** me this is quick then the turbo came on and I nearly s*it myself. I've never been in anything since with so much turbo lag :D bloody quick though. Awesome cars, I'll have one at some point in my life :P

Your a very lucky man.

Always been a favourite of mine. Thought about buying one back in '99 when I ended up with a new Scooby - it felt fantastic, so delicate compared to the (big turbo) Escort Cossie I tried beforehand. Was only the thought of having to do business mileage on it that made me take the safer option.

Finger's crossed it's as solid as it looks :P

My friend has an Alfa 155 Q4. Evo 2 engine in a 155 with the 4wd system. I looked at chopping my Alfa 155 in against a K plate one of these once, but the roof was bubbling at the back, and this was about 7 years ago! ;)

Look on the net for the usual rust spots as there is some quite comprehensive info on them. IIRC, it is under the scuttle panels that really go on these with rainwater stagnating

Loving it Dave.

You do need to get some dirty great big Compomotive MO or TH/TH2 on there though to set it off.

Lucky man. Very jealous!

What he said ;)

I've always had a soft spot for these, they seem so much cooler than all the other rally reps that are available, hope you enjoy it.

Cheers Guys!!!

Cant wait to get out and use it propperly! Th2's would look the nuts on it, but at £160 each without tyres! cant quite bring myself to get some lol!

I cant decide whether to try using it as an everyday car, it only has 80k miles on the clock at the minute.

Or whether it should be a weekend fun thing, and get something abit more economical and easy to run as an everyday car, but then thats another lot of running cost and insurance and tax etc.....!

Abit of an update for you all, as I have nearly all the parts now! Just waiting for the quick shift! I'm rebuilding the turbo at the moment, and deciding about silicone hoses, grooved discs and braided brake lines.

A few shiney pics for you all, SS tubular manifold and an under bonnet scoop / splash guard.

and some pics of my fuel pressure gauge, rad, polybushes, track rod-ends, down pipe, and underseal. (not so shiney)

I pass someone everyday on the commute into London - he's driving an EVO2 in the rare Lords Blue.

Nice, mine looked like that 7 years ago, then I parked it in the rain and it started to melt! http://s188.photobucket.com/albums/z143/oi...ia-%20Breaking/

Check the sunroof drains where they come down the rear quarters. The pipes should go through rubber bungs in the floor but as they get old they shrink. By the time I discovered mine had pulled through back into the 1/4's and they were full of damp silt/dirt it was too late. Boot floor, inner arches the whole caboodle. I still have the car, as it is now. Was going to break it last year and haven't got around to it. It's had all the engine services, rebuilt turbo, belts, tensioners, idlers, balance shaft bearings etc etc. In fact I'd done the whole of the front end and i was basically in the throws of sorting out the rear lights when I found all the damage. Give it it's due, it's sat for 4 years outside. I turn on the battery and it starts and idles.. .. . .just pity good shells aren't so easy to come by as 205 ones!
