Taking Off Pull-type Be Gearbox

Recommended Posts

B1ack_Mi16

As I will be splitting the BE box from the 1.9 TD engine today I just wondered if anyone know there's anything "special" I need to think of when dismantling it.

It's got the "pull-type" releasebearing/pressure plate and I've never taken one apart before

You need to get the arm off the top of the clutch shaft, to allow the shaft to rotate for the forks to disengage from the release bearing. Its a crap idea but that is how you have to do it, as otherwise the box won't come off!

pull the pin out of the arm (usually seized in) and lift the arm off the shaft.

when you pull the box off the engine mark the angle that the clutch shaft ends up at (dab of pain or tippex), this is the angle you need it to be when re-fitting for the fork to slide behind the bearing

Ah ok see, not a big problem then really.

Is the pin on these boxes also threaded with M7?

some early ones are, most are plain with a spring type clip on the end.

Thanks, proved to be very easy :)

Pin was spring/clip type, and after taking off the lever arm it was just to slide it out.
