Pulls To One Side When Accelerating. Huh?

Recommended Posts

tjcgti

When i drive along normally the car is fine and doesn't pull. When i put my foot down to give it some, even a tiny bit, the steering wheel moves slightly to the right and the car pulls to the left.

then when decelerate, it moves back to normal. I first thought the tracking maybe?

Engine mounts?

Thanks

It happened on mine and it was the wishbone bushes that were shot.

I had the same with bottom arm bushes also. Worth checking them thoroughly, as i couldnt feel the play in the wheel, but but a bar behnd the mountings and they moved easily.

Highly likely wishbone bushes, but there's another possible cause which I had.

IF your car dives into the right suddenly on steady right handers, even largish roundabouts, then the opposite side's front hub carrier (aka stub axle pivot) has an ovalled or enlarged wishbone balljoint clamp hole.

Good luck finding the cause and please keep us posted.

as said most likley wishbone bushes, cost about £15 to buy genuine pug ones and can be easily fitted DIY style.

Hey i literally just done it to mine, but i was pulling the oppisite way, I had only replcaed the withbone about a year ago with a non pattern part, the bushes were very ucked, but i found that the peugeot bush kit £20 something fitted straight in. one was a little to easy to put in so got some realy fine shim plate just so it fitted nice and snug. Hope it that easy for you dude.

I would check your Hub Holes like the Dr mentioned (thanks Sarty I will check mine too as I have that same problem) then if they seem fine change your wishbone bushes.

Here is a guide to changing them: http://forum.205gtidrivers.com/index.php?showtopic=93480

And the part number from Peugeot: (3599.07, £17.08 + vat)

Good luck

I had exactly the same problem with my brothers Mk5 Escort. I couldn`t believe how evil it was to drive. Turned out the clamp bolt hadn`t been tightened, how the ball joint hadn`t fallen out I`ll never know.

As for the post topic I would go along with the bushes.

i had the same problem twice. first time it was the wishbone rubbers. second time i had to change the struts to cure it. might have been the top mount, hope this helps
