Gti6 Cambelt.

I understand there are two kits available. A 136 tooth belt and a later 137 tooth belt.

Both using different tensioner systems.

I have read pro's and cons for both kits.

In reality which one is the best to buy? and why?

The 136T kit uses a metal tensioner, which is the preferred one but many people.

 

you shouldn't have any problems if they are replaced within the interval specified (36k/5 years)

The 136 belt I have never had any problems with, Replace them at the time as above and it should be fine

and I prefer to to to GSF and get the Dayco-INA kits as Peugeot used.

nowt wrong with gates belt kits, fitted literally hundreds and never had a single problem with them.

Is one a manual tensioner and the other an automatic one.

Must admit I'd prefer the idea of the auto one.

So the 137 is better?

One last thing, do kits come complete with tensioner/idler or are they ordered seperately?

nope, its the 136 T kits that have the manual metal tensioner, and they come in a kit if you give them the pug part number 0831 48

 

you shouldn't have any problems sourcing it as it was used on the XU7J4, 10J4R and the 10J4RS.

yes and we all know how long those ones seemed to last...

 

ps peugeot also use gates powergrip belts in their kits
