Adding Aircon - A Few Questions

Recommended Posts

Pugwebgeek

I have just moved to Australia with my little Sorrento 1.9 Gti and let me tell you that with all that glass, it heats up a treat. Kinda like being an ant under a magnifying glass :D

So I am having a go at fitting aircon to it. I've found a donor 205 1.6 Si (Xu5 engine with carburettor and catalytic convertor). I've got the following:

1 Heater matrix with included aircon evaporator unit and 3 dial control unit

2Interior wiring loom (the one that has the connectors that go to the doors)

3 Centre console loom (the one that has the connectors for the cigar lighter etc)

4 Fuse board to engine bay loom

5 Aircon pipes,

6 Dehydrater with included Pressostat

7 Radiator/twin fan assembly with aircon condensor

8 Aircon compressor

9 Alloy sump with compressor mounting bolts (not finned)

10 Double depth crank pulley

11 Five hole dash plate

12 Aircon switch and blank switch for 5th hole

Am I missing anything?

Can I put the non-finned alloy sump on a 1.9? I have checked various posts and they only seem to mention the std pressed metal or Mi16 finned alloy sump

Do I need to change all the seals to accept eco-friendly refrigerant?

Will the dehydrator be knackered and should I get a new one?

I think SuperJosh has done a conversion but I couldn't find the details by searching. Any help/ideas would be great
