Ecu Id Differences - Should I Try It?

I've increasingly got the feeling my ECU is the cause of my problems....

 

Seems my car has Motronic management with an ECU identifier of 0261 200 162

 

These appear to be almost impossible to find. However a forum member here has one 0261 200 161 available for sale.

 

Does anyone have any insight into what differences might be present, and whether I would be mad to risk putting a different numbered ECU into my car?
