Brake Help - Fitting Gti6 Brakes

Recommended Posts

adamc

Have just got some gti6 brakes, and 406 m/c. I'm planning on changing all the brake lines when fitting these. i was just wondering what brake line i need to get in order to run the gti6 brakes? I no the standard lines are slightly too short!

I know the ones I sell are custom made to suit, You can use the 306 one's but the fitting/join at the copper pipe is different.

just thought of one more thing, i know you can't run gti6 brakes with 1.6 hubs,

i am 99% sure i have 1.9 hubs but just incase what doesn't fit when trying to get the gti6 brakes on 1.6 hubs???

(sorry if this is a really stupid question)

What size was your driveshaft nut? this will confirm if it's 1.9 or 1.6

i've just fitted gti-6 front calipers, i got them all bled up today and took it for a blast!! wow, they stop on a sixpence, i do notice the pedal travel that i hear people talking about, can someone tell me what master cylinder i need? i thinks its a 406 one? if so which model car would it be off are they all the same? also, i just briefly read this thread and is that right that the brake pipes on the car wont reach? if so i'll make up some new pipes for the car. cheers

p.s, i can live with the standad m/c but if its a huge improvement i'll sort it .

The std pipes do fit but it's on full lock where then can crease and stop fluid being passed thru them and hense why it's a MOT failure, It's only a few mm in it but it makes all the differance,

I'd steer clear of any crappy Zinc plated pipe's/fitting's personally as the SS one's are not much more and you'll know that you can remove then if you ever need to iwthout cutting them in half.
