projectpug 0 Posted June 25, 2008 Hi I have warped a relatively new sex of zero sizty discs today so thinking of fitting a constella 283mm conversion. This uses the standard calipers which i want to keep at the moment. Just a few questions tho will the kit be reliable enough for track use and also will it fit under the 205 standard speedlines? Thanks Phil

projectpug 0 Posted June 25, 2008 Hmm looks like i need to find an awesome set of standard discs then, any one have any ideas?
Baz 421 Posted June 25, 2008 How about just bedding them in before usig in anger so you lessen the risk of warping them? At the risk of sounding obvious!
projectpug 0 Posted June 25, 2008 "I have warped a relatively new sex of zero sizty discs today" lol I did bed them in and have used them on a few track days but only 2 track days with the ds3000s and there warping like gooduns. Any particular make i should change them for?
base-1 17 Posted June 26, 2008 Are you sure they're warping and you don't just have pad deposits on them? Check them for warping first. If they aren't warped get some coarse ali oxide paper on a random orbital and clean the friction surfaces right up go gentle for a few miles and job done. Thanks Phil If the kit is same as the one I have about 8 years ago (sorry I cannot remember the brand but was ordered from UK and running similar size of disc), it should fit the original Speedline perfectly. Have been using it for road use for a couple years without any problem but never try it on track.
Tom Fenton 1,562 Posted June 26, 2008 If you have warped the discs, why not consider the cause and remedy this. EG heat is the cause, so get rid of the heat and you won't warp the discs.
projectpug 0 Posted June 26, 2008 Im pretty sure its warping thats caused it but i will check when ive got them off the car. Regarding fixing the heat issue i am thinking of fitting ducting to the original foglight cutouts. Any other ways? Thanks Phil
Tom Fenton 1,562 Posted June 26, 2008 Got it in one. You will find you need to cut away most of the lower part of the headlamp panel to get any useful ducting though.

projectpug 0 Posted June 26, 2008 If its going to fix my issues with the brakes then its definately not an issue
Tom Fenton 1,562 Posted June 26, 2008 Not in my opinion. My track car has been like it for 3 years anyhow.
Jrod 7 Posted June 26, 2008 Just had a quick look, how do you fit the ducting between the whell and inner arch or am I missing something?
Tom Fenton 1,562 Posted June 26, 2008 What I did was to cut out the back of the driving light aperture, and cut away the headlamp panel. This then lets air through directly to the brakes area. I also make a deflector plate that bolts up with the caliper to catch air coming backwards and deflect it across into the caliper/disc area. Before I did this we had warped a couple of sets of 283 GTI discs at Cadwell Park using DS2500 pads. After having done this the brakes are more consistant when being used hard and the discs have stood up to it 4 trackdays later.
Jrod 7 Posted June 26, 2008 Ah right sounds good, Using rallye grilles already have the holes cut out so If i do the rest should help out. Have to run solid discs for my rallying!
