306 Xsi Engine

Recommended Posts

Pug_sport

Hello all Peugeot Lovers.

I have bought a 306 XSi 2.0 16v and im wondering if i can use any parts from my MI16 engine to make it better.

ie: Cams, Inlet etc.

Please help as it feels a bit sluggish in comparison to my old 205.

Mi16 inlet will fit iirc, whether its beneficial or not is another thing. Your best best is probably to get some gti6 cams and manifolds. The head itself is fine, the cams are designed more for low down torque so the 6 cams should help out there alot. You may well get away with using the xsi management as well.

It a wolf in sheep's clothing. It just needs manifolds, cams and management to wake it up. Nothing from the Mi16 is worth salvaging, other than the crank.

If i was to put the gti6 cams and inlet onto it i would have to use the gti6 ecu or could i keep the xsi one?

If i have to use the gti6 ecu will it plug straight into the xsi wiring or would i have to replace the loom?

Yes, your ECU will work with the GTi6 cams, the reason being they're not much bigger. If it were me, I'd fit a GTi6 exhaust cam and a Catcam 4903106 inlet, to make it worth the effort and get a decent result.

Don't know about your second question.

After looking at the website and comparing what i think are standard mi specifications 1905cc engine the mi cams appear to be slightly better performance wise than the catcams but i might be wrong.

I thought about trying them but i dont want to damage anything or make the perormance worse.

Theres lots of different cat cams available, certainly ones that give better performance than std mi cams.

but on a really tight budget would i get an improvement on my performance with the mi cams or would they not work?

how much improvement would i gain by using mi cams and inlet manifold?

You can only use GTi6 cam's, nothing from the older engine really is worth swaping over, A remap is a must thou which is the expensive part at abour £400.00 I knew and it's in North Yorkshire.
