I'm Fitting A 1.6 Be3 Box

Recommended Posts

Peetypug

will it go straight on?

if not what needs changing? i've got the 1.6 clutch and plate, but i'm thinking i need a bigger clutch

i have searched and searched but they all seem to cover mi16/vts/gti6 and 1.9 boxes ;)

thanks in advance :D

P.S i'm sticking with the 1.6 box no matter what unless somebody has a known good mi16 box they want to swap :D

Its the same as fitting a 1.9 box, you need an alloy block mi16 cover plate and release bearing, might aswell get a complete clutch while you are at it.

It can be really tricky keeping it in the powerband because of the gap between 1st and 2nd, made all the more difficult because of the insane wheelspin in 1st! Goodluck to you fella

I don't have any wheelspin issues in first with mine in the dry, I've got parada tyres which must help I guess

I got zero grip as soon as full throttle was touched in 1st with 140lb torque and 170+hp. That was with eagle f1s 195s 30psi tracked and even tyre wear. i will be trying yokos when they wear out.

unless my gti6 engine is underpowered, although it does seem pretty lively :D

I think the weight of the iron block engine helps too, my brother's XS wheelspins easily with the light alloy TU engine, and that has half the power of my car..

Don't see why not, I did get a Valeo clutch from euro car parts fro about the same, dunno which would be the better clutch, I would think the valeo

Buy Valeo mate, my 2.0T. uses one and has done 10k miles now with no signs of slippage, and has more torque than a '6 :D
