Thought i may aswell post up a lil write up on my track car hoping to get it finished in the next couple months...

 

Here is how it started...

 

 

 

Picking her up...

 

 

 

 

at her new home...

 

 

 

The jungle loom

 

Starting to strip her...

taking the wing off...

 

 

was a struggle as it was sealed on but had to be done

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

After a good check we found that the loom just didnt match up at all, the engine started fine but none of the lights worked so out it came...

Then with the engine loom being a bit of a botch job i decide to strip the engine a bit and tidying it up...

 

 

 

nice wee find...

 

 

we found out that the engine had not long been rebuilt and because of the mess of the loom it became an unwanted project

 

so heres the spec and the plans...

 

Spec:

1.6GTi 205 Sunroof model shell

2.0 Mi16 lump

1.6 be3 gearbox with mi16 final drive

1.6 brakes all round soon to be changed

 

Plans: (if anyone has these parts lying around let me know)

Still needing 1.6 auxillary loom

1.9 rear brake set up

1.9 driveshafts

solid engine mounts

solid rear beam mounts

Cage

needs new drop links

Resprayed in and out matt black

one side will have red wheels and graphics other side will have white (just to be different)

 

Parts that i have just to be fitted:

Buckets

harnesses

1.9 front hubs and brakes

its def a 2.0 iron block mi

 

its the 150bhp version xuj10 i think

 

it also has the hole where the pump for the oil feed for the exhaust cam sealed up on the side

that's a 1.9 in those pics!

It's a 2.0 block if you look carefully, but it's got 1.9 rocker cover, inlet, thermostat housing etc on it

how strange! even has a dizzy on it! no wonder it doesn't run too well!

 

I didn't realise so much would fit from the 1.9, even the dizzy

 

what's the plans for it management wise?

car runs fine, auxillary loom was taken out due to the lights not working it was just a total mess

 

the engine loom is just a bit of a botch job so im tidying that up but once thats done the rest of the engine will be put back together and all the hoses etc will be getting tidied up

 

not decided on management yet any suggestions?

Ive got a Rear beam (1.9) which will be available soon which has been fully rebuilt with new shafts and bearings from pug with decent disks and pads, New bearings and hubs and Stew's solid rear beam mounting kit on it to.

Also, set of Grp 'A' (hard rubber) engine mounts and fairly new drop links.

A mate of mine is running a 2.0 S16 with a 1.9 Mi16 inlet cam, inlet mani and management like the one in this thread and it runs excellently, noticeably better than a standard 1.9 Mi16. I think Miles was first to build a hybrid along these lines.

 

edit: My mates car made 147.9bhp at the wheels, its a standard S16 setup as above with just a 4/2/1 exhaust manifold.

sounds very intresting well this should be well on its way to being finished in the next two months if not sooner real main part i still need is a 1.6 auxillary loom so if anyone has any ideas where i could source one it would be greatly appreciated

 

i shall have a few bits and pieces going up for sale soon aswell
