Just About To Unplug My Ecu On The Gti6

right i'm just about to unplug it so just want to make sure that i do it right

is it turn the ignition on then unplug it or start it then unplug it?

 

i'm doing it in the next few mins

will it then stay unlocked for good?

i know its a silly question, i just dont want to mess it up then have to pay for it to be unlocked :)

if i was to plug it back in after would it stay unlocked?

you need it in position 2 to unlock it, as long as the ecu doesn't get a "lock" signal (from the transponder) it'll stay unlocked :)

easiest way to check is remove the key from the plipper, then after it's locked try firing the engine back up with the plipper no where near the ign barrell, then if its not unlocked you can try again at least.

i told Dixon to remove the ecu while it was running,

 

it worked perfect and has been in my car ever since :)

well

i pulled the ecu and wiring clear of its box

turned the key 2 clicks so the ignition was fully on

then unplugged it

Its so much easier to do on a phase 1 keypad car, atleast you can check if it works straight away without any messing around.
