Sandy

Most likely 3.45, 1.87, 1.28, 0.97, 0.76 and FDR 3.78 or so. There are several boxes fitted to these.

I've just checked the official data and the 406 XU10J4R had mostly 4.16:1 FDR, but some were 4.54:1. The gear ratios are likely to be what I said before.

4.16 FD gives 37 56 82 109 139 @ 6500 rpm

4.54 FD gives 37 52 75 100 127 @6500 rpm

(on aforementioned gear ratios)

Sorry to hijack topic but need opinions on my box as im thinking of altering it

1st 2.92, 2nd 1.85, 3rd 1.36, 4th 1.068, 5th 0.968 FD 3.947

giving top speeds of; 38,60,82,104,115 @6500rpm and with 195/55 tyres on 15 inch wheels.

Do have a bog standard 1.6 box...was wondering whether to whack that in and give it a whirl?????

Any thoughts from the gearbox experts??
