2.0 Turbo - Head Bolts - Order And Torque Settings

Hi folks

 

Plan to replace my head over the weekend.

 

Can anyone confirm the order for replacing the bolts - is it the same order as a 1.9 GTi ( haynes manual ) ?

 

Also, the torque settings - again is it the same as a 1.9 GTi. ?

 

I dont have the manual for a 605 2.0 lump ( RGX ) so cant check

 

Also, i purchased a complete gasket set and round a 3 rubber o rings that i cant see on the old head.

 

2 are the same, ones not "rounded" on the edges

 

 

Any ideas what they are for

thermostat gaskets?

i'm pretty sure the flat one is the theromstat gasket. no idea on the other two.

Hi Ant,

 

Same tightening pattern as a 205 GTi. Autodata gives for the RGX:

 

35Nm on the first go. Then 70Nm. And then a further 160° on the thrid go. HTH.

The two seperate o rings with the rounded edges are what you used to use on the early engines (Pre 89/90 I think) for thermostat gaskets Ie one either side of the thermostat .
