chrisj21 2 Posted January 21, 2008 Hi, as some may know i purchased a sorrento 1.9 about a week back now. there are a few things im unsure of. the main thing ive noticed compared to my old 1.6 is from cold the car is very jerky especially in third gear and changing threw gears.this dissapears when accelerating hard but when i lift of the car jerks again.it generally doesn't seem as smooth as i think it should. after looking through previous topics im wondering if it could be one of the following. it may also be worth mentioning the headgasket was changed and timing belt less than 200 miles ag.but as im new to the car im unsure if this happened before. 1: timing out 2: worn engine mount somwhere 3: gearbox problem/release bearing etc there lots more niggles but thought id start with the big one. any help much appreiciated thanks Chris
chris1986 1 Posted January 21, 2008 i would check the lower engine mount first real easy to see. this is what caused mine to do that.
djinuk 2 Posted January 21, 2008 hmm, funny you mention the lower engine mount, i have the same problems as described here, and that engine mount is the only one i have failed to change , as i fitted the baker bm uprated upper and gearbox mount .
chrisj21 2 Posted January 21, 2008 cheers.will check all the mounts first, think i have spares of all anyway.also will the actual metal be cracked or just a worn bush?just so i know what to look for.
CosKev 16 Posted January 21, 2008 Plenty of uprated GRP N ones on E-Bay Don't think I would bother with a used mount for the sake of £30 for an up-rated one
M@tt 77 Posted January 22, 2008 The centre rubber will have either gone soft or possible sheared where it's attached to themetal outer ring

chrisj21 2 Posted January 22, 2008 If i went for a grp n this is a harder bush? how do i swap the bushes if i went for a grp n?
chris1986 1 Posted January 22, 2008 yes the harder ones make eveything rattle in mine, where as on my other i have just bought a new standard mount for £6 brand new from gsf. and yes they're easy to fit i would advise just taking the mount down to a local garage to use their press as this will make it a lot easier.
