Problem With My Girlfriends S1 106....

Just a quick one....

 

My girlfriends Series 1 106 1.5 diesel has developed a a problem with the steering and/or suspension.

 

When you pull away in first (at any speed, creeping away or putting the foot down), the steering wheel chatters from side to side. The car still goes straight but the wheel just keeps wobbling.

 

This continues onwards up to about 40mph at which point the shaking becomes more violent. Once you get to about 60ish the shaking stops almost completely and is fine from there on.

 

The standard 13" wheels are balanced, tyres are fine, and the tracking was checked and is fine.

 

Anyone had this problem on their pre-96 Peugeots (should all have similar steering/suspension)

Power steering or non power steering ? Could be a problem with the pump or fluid.

dead balljoint, either trackrod/steering or lower arm could be a loose bolt also.
