Dizzy/cap/arm And Signal Cable

Recommended Posts

Hello !

I need some info regarding ignition :

1) I've found that the dizzy signal cable is broken (the black wire was bad ...) so I've cut the cable in the middle and repair that that part with a new piece of wire for temporary solution until i buy myself new cable ... but i have one dilemma - the cable has 3 wires inside :

black (signal positive +)

red (signal negative -)

and wire without insulation - for what is this one ?!

Does this wire needs to be connected somewhere ? as when I've open up the black cable plug this wire wasn't connected to anything ... just the black and the red one which where connected inside the dizzy on the pick up system ..

So what should i do with this third wire ?

.........

2) Can anyone explain me what causes this heavy black sooty/carbon deposits on the tip of the rotor arm , and inside on the dizzy cap terminals (on the 3-rd cylinder terminal and sooty deposits around the coil HT carbon brush... the rests are fine - clean ..) ?!

wire without insulation is the shielding wire, leave it as it is :)

as for the dizzy cap and contacts the only thing I can think of is a bad contact/corrosion, but then I haven't had much experience with Distributors, and wont as I have a coil pack now

P.S I want your camera!

....

The camera is Canon EOS 350D very good quality and easy to work with ! , anyway my family job was photography (for a looong time , my granddad was a photographer , my dad , brother and myself :) ..) but i don't do this job anymore cos this digital system has ruin our business  everyone makes photos at home now by themselves

I have all kind of cameras , form the year 1930/40 up to this new century digital systems B) (some of them are real vinyl fragile and weird samples ;) ..)

Cheers ! B)

£25!!!!! Christ that's steep. Just make up another one yourself mate as at that price you could buy enough cable to make 50 of the things. As said above the 3rd wire is just shielding to reduce electrical noise. (same as in musical instrument cables)

Hi !

Yes i made myself two of these dizzy cables on DIY basis ! (I've repaired this broken cable , and also made one more as I've found in my garage one part of that dizzy cable with yellow 3-pin connector which was cut off in the middle so i just add/made the end part of the cable with new wires and bobs your uncle :P both of them works without any problems !)

Anyway I've asked for the price of this cable at Peugeot and they want around 35.00 quid for this piece of cable :P weird , it's a little bit too much just for the cable

Cheers ! :P
