8v Won't Start

Recommended Posts

Guest aussie16v

I bought a Series 3 the other day from ebay. The owner said it wouldn't start as something had "slipped" in the engine. Yeah I know what the hell does that mean? Anyway, thought it might be timing belt had jumped a tooth or something. Had a look nope all good. Checked for codes and it was showing code for Crank Angle Sensor. Changed sensor, still the same. It wants to start but won't run. Checked codes after changing CAS and still has code for it. The old sensor was pretty knocked around as if it had been hit by something. Not being very familiar with them is it possible it has thrown a magnet or something?

'it wants to start but won't run'

Maybe be silly but are the leads the wrong way around. Pugs are numbered from the flywheel, not the belt end like most cars. I made this mistake first time around!
