S16 Inlet Cam Removal

Recommended Posts

Doof

I'm stripping the head on my S16 engine and I've come to removing the cams but it seems to be held in place at the dizzy end (there isn't one but you know). The picture below shows the end thats stuck...What is this thing, it spins in some housing and i presume relates to the timing some how...and more importantly how do i get the damn thing free so i can lift the camshaft free?

Cheers,

IIRC its the trigger for the cam timing sensor, as well as the Vac pump slot (if fitted)

In the housing you'll see a slot just big enough for the trigger to be with-drawn, The stat housing is held on by 2 10mm bolts and 2 nut's basically like the 1.9 Mi16
