Relationship Between Clutch And Warning Lights?

Recommended Posts

Loon18

My 1.9 GTi has some wonderful electrical gremlins...

In particular the stop light and water temp warning light are constantly on... until i dip the clutch when they go out?!

Does anyone have a clue as to why? is there some form of connection between the two?

Cheers

Simon

The wiring for all the sensors runs through a brown multiplug that sits loose above the top of the gearbox - I wonder if some of the wiring has been chaffed and is shorting out on the clutch arm (which is within 2-3" of where the wiring runs)?

Cheers dude - i'll track down the multiplug and try and trace the wiring as my first port of call!

P.S - it's still going - only 2000miles to go till it hits the magic 200k!

Cheers
