What Oil For A 1.9 Gti Engine

Recommended Posts

Guest jeni

Hey

Sorry if this has been anwered before but I couldnt search as its not working. Had a quick look but couldnt see any thing. Also sorry if its inthe wrong place.

What Oil (grade) do people recommend for a 1.9 GTI engine that has around 116k on the clock.

Mine seems to be drinking the stuff at the minute and I wondered if it was something to do with the fact that the oil I have been using is more designed for modern engines.

Had a real struggle trying to find one that is for older, high milage cars. Esso used to do one but they dont seem to sell it any more.

Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Are your Stem Seals buggered? I would look for blue smoke on start up?

Is that a major problem to fix? Not very good on the old technical jargon.

You can do the seals in-situ if you have (or have access to a friendly garage with) the right tool
