Rev Limit On A 106 Gti Engine?

Does anyone know what the rpm limited to on the 106 Gti engine? (TU5J4)

I've heard this figure mentioned before too... I have nothing concrete though!

Standard limit is 7250 or 73000, but the engine will happily rev higher, ive taken mine to 7800 and its still going strong.

I used to run mine to 7800 too, without any valve float etc. Dave P on 106RR was running his to 8400 iirc, but had hyd lifter failures.
