Hey looking for some info on how the boost works on these engines,

Does it automatically cuts the boost determind by spped or that, like first gear does it it cut it right away or that?

i know that theirs an electronic device in line with the actuator, Can i do away with this and fit a Dawes device or do i need to keep this in place?

If i can fit a dawes device, does anyone have a diagram of what to do with the pipes? like only use 2 of them and blank 1 off or that?

As i had the car rolling roaded and theboost was up and down determined by how hard you pushed the engine.

was boosting the 9 psi which they were standard but fades away, the actautor is new so cant be that, so it looks like its the electronc boost control which is causing me some grief

So if anyone has any help i would be most grate full

Cheers

davie

Explanation of the valve is here mate http://forum.205gtidrivers.com/index.php?s...67463&st=30

It is controlled via the ECU and cross referenced with the TPS and VSS.

Yes as you say the boost varys on hard you push the engine and so I've found

on mine, it wont always give full boost when the engines cold, probably

to protect the turbo.

If you fit a dawes device/MBC ( mechanical boost controller) it will plumb inline

inbetween the pipe that's already there from the wastegate actuator then go onto

the throttle body.

http://www.gb-ent.com/products/boost.htm

So yes, you would need to blank the other outlets used with the electronic controller.

Hope that help's

Sam.

Cheers for the help, will i use a 2 port or a 3 port bleed valve though?

And i take it i will use the vacuum hose on the boost pipe leading into the inlet, and block the one off on the inlet side to the turbo?

No problemo. Although I would not personally recomend the use of a bleed valve

and have never used one, have heard that they dont work to well on these engines!

When my electronic boost valve broke a month or so ago (giving massive overboost)

I fitted an MBC as in that link, it has two ports.

I fitted it to the pipe that comes off the wastegate actuator that normally goes the electronic boost valve,

and then from the MBC to a spare nipple on the front of the throttle body.

The two port MBC does not need a signal from any of the main boost pipes.

you will need to blank them off otherwise you will have a boost leak,

and also the nipple thats on the air filter>to inlet of turbo.

To be completely honest though I much prefer the electronic valve and it sounds as if

your's is working perfectly as it should!

So I dont really see the need to convert to a bleed valve/MBC,

unless of course your aiming to up the boost a little.

Just read the instructions well before you commit to anything..
