Urgent Help Needed Sourcing Xu10 Sump

Recommended Posts

Turbo7379

I've did 1 event in my 205 with a rebuilt 1.9 MI16 installed & I was suffering some oil surge problems . I'm doing another event on Saturday & I need to get help sourcing a XU10 sump asap .

I went to a local peugeot 'specialist' who also breaks pugs & asked for an XU10 sump , explaining why . He knew what I was on about & has seen the baffle in some pug sumps . Only problem is he's not sure what car model they're fitted on . I told him any 2.0 petrol or diesel , was I right ? He started going on about a xw10 , is that an engine ?

Anyway off he disappeared into his yard & came back with an alloy sump off a diesel but no baffles . Next he tried a steel sump off something else , same story .

I've done a search & found this post by Anthony -

Any 2.0 8v or 16v XU engine.

That's basically any 2.0 from a 306, ZX, Xantia, older 406, 605, or XM should suffice.

I'm going back tomorrow to continue searching , could somebody please answer these questions to help me along ?

1-What year of cars is this sump fitted ?

2-Is it a steel or alloy sump ?

3-Petrol or diesel ?

4-Aircon , yes or no ?

I'm a bit pi55ed off today as I was supposed to be collecting the KAAZ diff I ordered on Monday , hoping to fit it tonight . Diff is still in England & I won't have it until next week unless I wanted to pay £35 for an overnight delivery charge ! Supplier is trying to blame courier for not collecting it but I think he forgot to order it . :)

I've only seen one engine with this sump fitted but know they are fitted to various others which you have listed.

The one I've found was in a 306 XSi 2.0l 8v XU10 & they were made 93-97 & also the same engine fitted to the Citreon ZX made from 92-96 but this engine was also found in the Citroen XM from 89-94, Xantia 93-98, 605 89-98, 806 94-01.

Graham.

As Anthony said.

Anthony use to go down my scrappy and get like 4 sumps off 1.8 406s etc. But closed down now

I think any XU10 that's air conditioned is the answer, 8V or 16V. Even my XU10J2 Xantia has one.

Thanks for the extra info guys . I went back to the breakers with the extra info but still came home empty handed . :( He has no 2L engines apart from diesels . He remembers having a steel sump with a baffle but he can't find it . We thought we had the right one when we found a 2L HDI engine from a 306 . It even had the air-con brackets fitted but it had no baffle inside ! :o He sold a 2L 16v last month to a guy & he was supposed to return the sump but he couldn't get hold of the guy on Friday .

I wasn't going to chance another event with oil surge so I decided to make my own baffle . I had a deeper 405 SRI steel sump & using some alloy sheel & a small door hinge I ended up with this after a few hours work .

I also had an oil pump baffle from an oil pump I acquired & between them it has helped as the oil needle never dropped during the event . There was one particular corner I was dreading , a long 180 degree turn . It was wet & I was able to slide the car round it in a long drift but the oil pressure stayed steady . :)
