westy 0 Posted May 6, 2007 Ok, So I picked up a Sorrento 1.9 from Alistairh on friday. Now, I've been noticing that when you reach about 5000rpm, its doesn't seem to like to rev any further, and there's a fast burbling/popping from the exhaust. Any ideas? Ahl 4 Posted May 6, 2007 You should check all the ignition stuff, dizzy cap, rotor arm, leads, coil etc, replacing with known good items if possible. Also check the lead that comes out of the side of the dizzy - this goes to the ignition amplifier. Failing that, try swapping the igniton amplifier with a known good one. And failing that, I'd try swapping the air flow meter with a known good one.

All were replaced with new at the last service a couple of months ago. So you think its an ignition problem? The car also seems very hesitant once you reach higher rpms (5k +)
j_turnell 137 3 Cars Posted May 6, 2007 Try a different ignition amp, its unlikely to have been replaced as its not a general service item.

Alastairh 47 Posted May 7, 2007 Hi mate, as said first port of call would be ignition amp if it was me. Looks like one of these, thats just a random pic i had from when i fitted my brothers S16. More than likely on the passenger inner wing. Shouldn't be dizzy etc as its only just had a major service Alastair
