basically dot 3 4 and 5.1 are hygroscopic, meaning water will dissolve into the fluid and gradually lower its boiling point. dot 5 is silicone based and isn't hygroscopic and the water will sit at the bottom of the brakes lines causing corrosion and boiling, creating serious problems. Whatever brake fluid you use, water is going to cause problems, but with hygroscopic fluids the problems are much less.

 

of the bunch dot 5.1 is better suited to hard high temperature braking, as it has a higher boiling point.

Well...even though the my car is not completed, I've put Brembo brakes from the 406 V6 on the front - and put the old front brakes on the back with a slight mod.

 

It certainly looks good :D - how well it works I'll let you know....
