306 Gti-6 Oil Temps Sensor

how cn i wire this up to the std gauge?/

 

it has 2 terminals the OE 205gti has 1

 

i've tried connecting up and earting out the second conneter,

 

but still not working ;)

Just to check you are not doing what I did..... :blink:

 

Is this sensor half way down the block at the back? If so its probably the oil level sensor. I had the same confusion with my mi16 block as the bx uses this. The actual oil temp sensor is a single terminal one right at the bottom in the back of the sump next to the main sump plug.

 

Not actually looked at a gti6 engine but this is probably the reason ;)

 

That ebay link is to a pressure sensor that will be on the front, the oil temperature one is different

i not sure i explained myself right

 

i have fitted a 306 GTI-6 sump to my 205 engine

 

they have a newer style oil temp sensor which has two connections

 

i have the oil temp sender but need to wire it up ;)

yeah its the oil temp switch, and has two terminals but you just run the single cable to 1 side and leave the other side blank

mmmm well i dont that and it dont work ;)

 

i ordered a new sensor anyhow as this one isn' mine..

 

so will check with new sensor

Its the same oil temp switch that is fitted to all XU10's by the looks, if so pin 1 will be temp sender and pin 2 will be temp switch. Just connect your original wire to pin 1 as the sensor grounds itself out to earth.

Just to clarify something.... the ebay link, is that an oil temp sensor that goes into the sump or something different? :)

yeah it's stu's sensor from his current engine

 

i bought a new sensor today, he can have his back soon
