Mi16, New Head Gasket But Still Steaming?

Recommended Posts

huzzer

Just changed the head gasket on the Mi. While the head was of I stripped it, had it skimmed and replaced the stem seals and cleaned the valves up as well. After rebuilding there is still quite a bit of steam from the exhaust!

Before, there was plenty of steam and it was burning some oil too. Now it isnt burning oil but still a lot of steam. Is it possible that the fuel could be contaminated or the exhaust is still full of water from the blown gasket?

It doesnt steam instantly on start up, i'd say 60 seconds or so til it starts.

Any ideas on what to check? ;)

water has more than likely collected in the silencer boxes from your head gasket failureand it can take quite a while for it to evaporate off, as you say your waiting 60 secs for it to start steaming, ie: waiting for exhaust to heat up, just either leave it running for an hour or so or take it for a blast to clear it out
