i have just bought a 1989 1.9 gti and was wondering if anyone know's of a good gti specialist around the n-wales/chester area thanks

hi paul i am just gaining info at the moment i am going to use the car for the odd sunday drive and track day-is there a big differance in having the 1.6 gearbox in the 1.9 engine?

Hi.

Yes there is a fair difference craig, The 1.6 box is shorter than the 1.9 one. There are some comparison charts on here and it has been well covered inc 1.6/1.9/1.9mi16 boxs. The 1.9/mi16 box are better for motor way crusing, as the 1.6 box i believe make around 4500RMP @ 70MPH-But I can't remember exact figure,I'd say do a search m8.

HI

 

Im not far from Wrexham, and tuning wise my cars have all gone to Pete Morgan at Balmuir Garage in Gresford. Hes behind the Texaco garage there.

 

Took my Steel Grey for a tune the other day and its bog standard, 138k miles, 16 years old and still got 105bhp at the flywheel. It only had 95 when I turned up so it pulls a lot better now.

 

I do use Skip Browns for other bits n pieces too.
