Central Locking

Recommended Posts

Guest grantpug

guys,

For some reason my central locking has stopped working....... then randomly it works...... then stops working....... then works, etc, etc. You can imagine how annoying it is. I have had the door card off and a wee fiddle with the motor but couldnt sort it.

Should i just replace it.

Any advice please.

There is a central locking relay under the dash that might be the problem.

When this was happening on mine, it was only the passenger door that would randomly not lock / unlock so I replaced the drivers door actuator and that cured it.

If you're at a scrapyard looking for central locking motors, they are the same on Citroens only some of them have the ability to unlock all the doors from either front door, a bonus for us cos it means there are double the drivers side motor's. ;)

Where is this relay?

The relay ( Central locking control switch ) if i remember right is located to the left of the drivers footwell ,sort of at the back of the center console, its a black unit secured to a bracket, best way is to put your fingers on to anything that resembles a relay, and get someone to operate the central locking, you should feel it clicking.

hehe

mines doing the same atm.. though i know exactly what it is..

simple loose connection where the wire goes from the door into the car.. i found that if i swing my door wide open it kicks in and unlocks the rest of the car  heh.. though luckily it locks everytime

just gotta get round to swopping the wire

Mine used to do this. Lots and lots.

I used to blame it on the fact that I had automatic central locking (with clifford alarm) so when engine was on doors were locked - how many people HAD to open the damn doors before I'd turned off the engine?!?!? Well far too many and everytime they did it it f*cked the central locking for a week.

Then I used to put it down to french engineering.

However, all that needed doing was replacing the actuators! LOL
