Xu10j4 Vs Xu10j4r/s

Recommended Posts

Bam

hi folks,

i asking myself:

wich differences are between xu10j4 (97,8kw) vs xu10j4r(s) (110kw//120kw)

EDIT:

have found some infos (at the search)

so...inletmanifold,cams and ecu are the pysical difference (?!)

ecu: remapping would be work....

...i'm looking for the missing hores... :)

has anybody tried to fitt the gti-6 manifold to that 97kw engine?

(wich power it would be produces without the +1mm lift s16 cam?)

cheers mik

The cylinder head is completely different on these two motors. That's where the extra power comes from.

There's misinformation for a start. You're mixing up three different versions:

XU10J4 - 116kW, as fitted to series 2 Mi16 and S16

XU10J4R - 98KW, as fitted to 306 and early 406 models

XU10J4RS - 125kW as fitted to GTi6

The heads on the later two are completely different to the first. The XU10J4 head is almost identical to a 1.9L Mi16. Cam timing is a major difference between the R and RS but there's others. eg exhaust, inlet, cyl. head etc.

@peter

u r right...

pug is clever...they get a lot of "tiny" differences (began at the head, end at the block)

to get +30bhp (healty)

...and i'm sorry...i have typed wrong (enginecodes)

i'm not sure yet...to stress myself with this conversion (for "only" +30bhp)

:D

cheers mik

Does the GTi-6 head fit onto the S16 block?

here are some infos:

xu10rs 120kw (gti-6/s16) inletmanifold:

TB diameter: 63mm / 70mm

post-8663-1174390364_thumb.jpg

xu10j4r 97,8 kw (406 2.0 16v) inletmanifold:

TB diameter: 48mm / 54mm

post-8663-1174390513_thumb.jpg

xu10rs 120kw (gti-6/s16) exhaustmanifold:

post-8663-1174390347_thumb.jpg

xu10j4r 97,8kw (406 2.0 16v) exhaustmanifold:

post-8663-1174390378_thumb.jpg

the 306 xu10j4r inlet manifold looks much different to both.

valves

xu10j4rs

inlet: 34,10mm (!)

exhaust: 30,xxmm (!)

xu10j4r

inlet: 34.60mm

exhaust: 29,60mm

valvestems on both engine: 6mm

camtiming (info from search)

RFV: 196°@1mm / 7.90mm Lift

RFS: 215°@1mm / 10.00mm Lift

inlet/exhaust duct-cross section ???

s16 block has a pistionbottomcooling.

ECU

gti-6//s16: magnetti marelli

406 2.0 16v: bosch

any correctionsuggestion? :)

XU10J4 = S16

XU10J4RS = GTi6

These are not the same, they have different heads, exhaust manifolds and inlets.

Also the XU10J4R head has exactly the same valve sizes as the S16/Mi16 with 7mm valve stems, while GTi6 is the one with 6mm valve stems and smaller inlets, bigger exhausts.

i'm lil' bit confused...

here in germany, is the "s16"...the same, that you are calling here "gti-6".

peugeot 306 s16 (120kw)->xu10j4rs. :)

>These are not the same, they have different heads, exhaust manifolds and inlets.

pics above...i'm not sure...someone has tried to fit "gti-6" (xu10j4rs) inletmanifold to fit on his mi16.have seen some pic's.

> while GTi6 is the one with 6mm valve stems and smaller inlets, bigger exhausts.

so you agree? (list above, with valvesizes)

stems: ok,thanks for correction :P

...but whats about willxs question?

to swap xu10j4rs 120kw head (incl manifolds,cam) to 98kw xu10j4r ?!

bore is the same (86x86)

B1ack_Mi16

Lets call the XU10J4 for 405 Mi16 2.0 instead and drop the S16 thingy :)

The XU10J4 has 155bhp and a black plastic inlet manifold and cast iron exhaust manifold.

A XU10J4RS head would fit fine on a XU10J4R, I think the J4R will have 10.4:1 apart to the J4RS which has 10.8:1 compression.

And also I'm not sure how big the valve-pockets are in the J4R compared to J4RS.

But should fit just fine.

hmmmm....

next question would be:

i'm pretty sure, that a xu9j4 inletmanifold would fit the head from gti-6.

does anybody tried? (cause of 2x38mm TB's or VAG tb with 83mm???)

mik :D

thx hilgie for the pix :D

whats about the oilspraybars from the bottom end from gti-6?

i also sure, that pug didnt make diff blocks, i think it should be possible to plug and play that parts

but....oilpumppressure difference?

.oO(what would happen with xu9j4 inlet and vag tb on xu10j4r,cams like this one:

268° 114° 10,5mm 1,1mm 20°-68° )

wich power should be possible?!

;):)
